Information about our financial advice service, as required under New Zealand financial advice law.

Financial Advice Provider details

QuoteHub is operated by Smiths Insurance and KiwiSaver (Craig Smith Business Services Limited). We are a licensed Financial Advice Provider (FAP) under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013.

FSP number: FSP712931. We hold a Class 2 licence issued by the Financial Markets Authority (FMA). You can confirm our registration on the Financial Service Providers Register (FSPR) at fsp-register.companiesoffice.govt.nz.

Licensing

We hold a Financial Advice Provider licence under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 and are registered on the FSPR. Our licensed financial advisers and/or nominated representatives provide advice in accordance with that licence.

Nature and scope of advice

We provide personalised financial advice on the following types of insurance:

Our advice is tailored to your situation following a needs analysis. We will clearly explain the scope of any advice we give and any limitations.

Products and providers

We advise on products from a range of insurers, including (but not limited to):

AIA, Partners Life, Fidelity Life, Chubb Life, nib, Asteron Life, Southern Cross.

We are not tied to a single provider. Recommendations are made based on your needs, product features, and suitability - not on which insurer pays higher commission.

Fees and commissions

We do not charge you direct fees for the advice and service we provide through QuoteHub. We are paid by the insurance companies in the form of commissions when a policy is put in place or renewed.

Commissions typically include an upfront commission (when the policy starts) and an ongoing trail commission (paid while the policy remains in force). These costs are built into the premiums set by the insurer; the price you pay is not increased because you use an adviser.

Conflicts of interest

Because we are paid by way of commission, there is a conflict of interest: we have an incentive to recommend products that pay commission. We manage this by:

Complaints

If you are not satisfied with our service, please contact us first. We will try to resolve your complaint through our internal process.

If we cannot resolve it, you have the right to refer your complaint to our dispute resolution scheme, the Financial Dispute Resolution Service (FDRS). That service is free for consumers. You can contact FDRS at fdrs.org.nz or by email at [email protected].

Code of Conduct

We adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services. That code sets standards for competence, conduct, client care, and ethical behaviour. You can find the code on the FMA website.

Disciplinary history

There is no relevant disciplinary history to disclose in respect of our FAP or our licensed advisers that we are required to bring to your attention. If this changes, we will disclose it in accordance with our obligations.
