Who writes and who reviews QuoteHub content

Every article on QuoteHub NZ is published under a named author, Henry Smith, and reviewed by Smiths Insurance & KiwiSaver, the licensed Financial Advice Provider (FSP712931) that operates QuoteHub NZ. The author byline and the reviewing entity appear at the top of each article alongside the date it was last updated, so a reader can see who stands behind the content before reading it.

The reviewer's job is the regulated one: checking that a page describes New Zealand insurance products, definitions and rules accurately, that nothing reads as a recommendation to a specific individual, and that any statement about cost, cover or eligibility is one the firm can support. Where an article touches an area outside the licence — tax, legal or accounting questions, for example — it says so and points the reader to the right professional.

How articles are researched and sourced

QuoteHub NZ articles are built from primary New Zealand sources rather than from other comparison sites. Product detail comes from the insurer's own current policy wording, scheme and regulatory detail comes from the responsible New Zealand body such as ACC, Inland Revenue or the Financial Markets Authority, and every figure is published with the period it relates to. Sources are listed at the foot of the article.

Product facts — benefit definitions, stand-down periods, exclusions, age limits — are taken from the insurer’s current published policy wording or product disclosure material, not from a competitor’s summary of it.
Regulatory and scheme facts — ACC entitlements, KiwiSaver rules, FMA and CoFI obligations — are taken from the responsible New Zealand body: ACC, Inland Revenue, the Financial Markets Authority, or the legislation itself.
Financial-strength ratings, solvency margins and claims statistics are attributed to the rating agency or the insurer’s own published disclosure, with the period they relate to stated on the page.
Numbers are dated. A figure that is true for one financial year is labelled with that year rather than presented as a permanent fact.
Sources used are listed at the foot of the article so a reader can check the original.

How often content is reviewed and updated

Every QuoteHub NZ article shows both the date it was first published and the date it was last updated, and the last-updated date is changed only when the substance of the page changes. Cosmetic edits do not reset it, because a refreshed date on unchanged content is misleading to readers and to search engines alike.

Pages covering premiums, product features, tax treatment, ACC entitlements or KiwiSaver rules are reviewed at least once every twelve months, and sooner whenever an insurer changes a product, a regulator changes a rule, or a Budget or legislative change affects what the page says. Pages that explain a concept rather than a product are reviewed on the same twelve-month cycle.

Where an article has been materially rewritten rather than tidied, the change is reflected in the updated date and, where the change alters a reader's likely decision, noted in the body of the article.

Corrections and complaints

Mistakes in published content are corrected rather than quietly removed. Anyone who believes a QuoteHub NZ page is wrong can email [email protected] with the page address and what appears to be incorrect, and the page is checked against the original source.

Where a factual error is confirmed, the page is corrected and its last-updated date is changed. Where the error was material — a wrong number, a wrong eligibility rule, a wrong product feature — the correction is noted on the page itself rather than made silently. Where the reported issue turns out not to be an error, the person who raised it is told why.

A complaint about the advice service itself, rather than about published content, is handled through the firm's internal complaints process first. If it cannot be resolved there, it can be referred to the Financial Dispute Resolution Service (FDRS), which is free for consumers. Full details are on the disclosure page.

Commercial relationships and how we're paid

QuoteHub NZ is paid by commission from the insurer when a policy is placed and while it stays in force, and charges the reader no direct fee. Commission is a conflict of interest, and it is disclosed on every page of the site rather than buried in a footer, because a reader can only judge the content properly if they know how the publisher earns.

No insurer pays QuoteHub NZ for coverage, for placement, or for a favourable mention, and no article is written or amended at an insurer's request. Which insurers appear in a comparison is decided by which insurers the firm holds agency agreements with and which products are relevant to the topic, not by which insurer pays the most commission.

Links from QuoteHub NZ articles to the site's own enquiry forms and tools are commercial: completing one starts a conversation with an adviser at Smiths Insurance & KiwiSaver, who is remunerated by commission if cover is subsequently placed.

What this content is, and what it is not

Articles on QuoteHub NZ are general information about New Zealand insurance and are not personalised financial advice. General information cannot take account of a reader's health history, occupation, dependants, debts or budget, and those are exactly the things that decide whether a policy is suitable. Personalised advice is given by an authorised adviser at Smiths Insurance & KiwiSaver after a needs analysis, and it is free to the client.
