Check which guaranteed acceptance cover fits your age
This checker compares your age and residency with the entry rules of Momentum Life’s two guaranteed acceptance products. Quick Life takes applicants aged 18 to 65 and Funeral Insurance takes New Zealanders aged 40 to 75. Neither asks a health question and this tool does not either. It reports facts about the rules, not a decision: Momentum decides every application.
Your age and residency
Two questions, and no health questions. Nothing you enter is stored, sent or tracked.
Age in whole years at the time of applying.
Enter an age and choose a residency answer to see which product’s entry rules fit. Nothing is shown until both are in.

How to use the checker
- Enter the age of the person who would be covered, in whole years.
- Choose the residency answer that describes them. If it is a work visa, enter the months they have been in New Zealand continuously.
- Read the result for each product. It says whether the age and residency sit inside that product’s published rules, and says why when they do not.
The result is a statement about rules. It does not say you will be accepted or that either product suits you.
How the age rules work
Each product has an entry age band, and the two overlap only between 40 and 65. Under 40 only Quick Life is open. From 66 to 75 only Funeral Insurance is. Over 75 neither takes new applicants. Quick Life’s own wording adds a consequence: if the correct age at the cover start date was over 65, the policy is void from the start and all premiums are refunded, so the age must be stated correctly.
The age band is about when cover starts, not how long it lasts. Quick Life cover stays in force after 65, with premiums stepping until 75 and fixed from then. Funeral Insurance premiums stop at the 89th birthday and cover continues for life. Our Quick Life page and Funeral Insurance page set out each product, and the stepped premium projection
Why residency status matters
Both products are for people who live in New Zealand, and both wordings define who counts. A New Zealander is someone who lives in New Zealand and holds New Zealand or Australian citizenship or a New Zealand permanent resident visa, or is on a temporary work visa and has been in New Zealand long enough. The wordings set that time at 6 months for Quick Life and 12 months, continuously, for Funeral Insurance, so a recent arrival on a work visa can fit one product and not the other. Other visas are not named in the definitions.
If you are on a visa that is not listed here, the checker treats the answer as outside the published rules. That is a statement about the wording, not a ruling on your case, and a licensed adviser or Momentum can confirm how your visa is treated.
Quick Life eligibility rules (ages 18 to 65)
- New Zealand residents aged 18 to 65 are accepted without health questions or medical exams.
- Cover is $50,000 to $300,000 per life insured, with 3% indexation at each policy anniversary until 75 or a $500,000 cap per life insured. You can opt out of an increase.
- The 2-year rule. In the first 2 years pre-existing conditions and suicide are excluded. If death from a pre-existing condition happens in that window and no claim is payable, premiums are refunded. Afterwards pre-existing conditions are covered, except any listed in the policy schedule.
- Momentum’s website says Quick Life is not available to applicants diagnosed with a terminal illness or in palliative or hospice care. A person can be inside the age and residency rules and still fall outside that one.
Funeral Insurance eligibility rules (ages 40 to 75)
- New Zealanders aged 40 to 75 are accepted without medicals, health questions or paperwork.
- The benefit is $3,000 to $30,000 towards costs, and total premiums can end up larger than the benefit.
- The 24-month rule. In the first 24 months the benefit is paid only for accidental death. Any other death in that window pays nothing, and all premiums paid for that person are refunded. After 24 months the benefit is paid for death from any cause.
- An adult child can own a policy on a parent. This checker asks for the age of the person who would be covered.
- There is no terminal illness benefit.

What options exist if you are 76 or older?
Neither Momentum product accepts new applicants over 75, and this page does not suggest otherwise. What is open at that age depends on the insurer and the product, and it changes. Our pages on guaranteed acceptance life insurance over 75 funeral insurance over 70
Guaranteed acceptance versus speaking to an adviser
Guaranteed acceptance suits people who would be declined or heavily loaded elsewhere, or who want cover in place in minutes without questions. A healthy person can usually get more cover for less with fully underwritten cover through an adviser. Both Momentum products restrict the first years, which fully underwritten cover does not do in the same way. Our guaranteed acceptance hub what guaranteed acceptance is

Frequently asked questions
Does this checker ask about my health?
No. It asks age and residency only, because neither product asks a health question at application. That is also why it cannot test Momentum’s website rule on terminal illness and palliative care.
Does a good result mean I will be accepted?
No. It means your age and residency sit inside the published entry rules. Momentum decides the application.
Why is Funeral Insurance not offered below 40?
Its entry age starts at 40, and the checker follows the wording.
Is my information kept?
No. The checker runs in your browser and nothing is stored, sent or tracked.
