NZ treatment cost explorer
New Zealand has no official register of private treatment prices, so this explorer does the only honest thing possible: it lists, for 86 procedures across 11 categories, every price observation QuoteHub has verified from a named source — a provider’s published price list or an insurer’s published claims-cost data — each with the provider’s name, the date it was observed and a link to the source. Where no NZ source publishes a price, the table says exactly that instead of estimating one.

How to read the tables
The cost column distinguishes two kinds of evidence, and says which is which. A provider-published price is a figure a named clinic or radiology group publishes on its own pricing page. An insurer claims-data range is what a named insurer reports actually paying across many claims in a stated period — real money paid for real treatment, but not an advertised price, and it is labelled as claims-derived wherever it appears. Where neither exists, the cell reads “no published NZ price — no reliable figure exists”.
The relevance column is general orientation, not advice. “Commonly claimed on NZ health insurance” means procedures of this kind are routinely funded through private health cover; “sometimes covered” means it depends on the policy and often on the cause (injury versus illness or degeneration); “generally not covered” marks exclusions such as cosmetic or fertility treatment on most policies; and “ACC territory” means injury-caused cases are usually funded by ACC rather than health insurance. Whether any specific procedure is covered for you depends on your policy’s terms, any exclusions, and the insurer’s underwriting — including how pre-existing conditions were assessed when the cover started.

Methodology
No official source of NZ private treatment prices exists — there is no public register, and public-hospital costings do not price private care — so every figure on this page uses the named-provider-anchor method: it is transcribed from a named provider’s published pricing or a named insurer’s published claims-cost data, never derived, never averaged from memory, and never taken from QuoteHub’s own earlier indicative figures. Each observation records who published it, the date it was last seen stating that figure, and a link to the source in the same table cell.
Where no NZ provider or insurer publishes a figure for a procedure, the table states the gap rather than filling it: an estimate presented as an observation would be worse than no number at all. The register behind this page was verified on 15 Aug 2026, and every cost observation sits on a 180-day re-observation cycle — the next scheduled re-verification is due by 11 February 2027. Providers change their prices between our checks, so always confirm a current figure with the provider directly.
These are indicative observations, not quotes. An actual private price depends on the surgeon’s and anaesthetist’s fees, the hospital, the prosthesis or technology used, the complexity of your case and the length of stay — a real figure for your situation can only come from the provider treating you. Nothing on this page is a premium, and no insurance price appears anywhere on it.
