Our advisers
Two licensed New Zealand financial advisers, both with their own entry on the public Financial Service Providers Register. Here are the numbers, so you can check them.
The people who give the advice

Who holds the licence
Financial advice is provided by Craig Smith Business Services Limited, trading as Smiths Insurance & KiwiSaver, a licensed Financial Advice Provider (FSP712931). QuoteHub is a trading name. Neither adviser holds a licence in their own right, and they are not meant to: under the New Zealand regime an individual adviser is registered as a financial adviser and gives advice on behalf of a licensed Financial Advice Provider, which is the entity the Financial Markets Authority licenses and holds to account.
That is why there are three numbers on this page rather than one. FSP712931 is the licensed firm. FSP1010699 and FSP33042 are the two individuals engaged by it. All three are separate public entries, and the register shows the engagement linking each adviser to the firm, with the date it started.
Both advisers belong to the same dispute resolution scheme, the Financial Dispute Resolution Service, under membership FM4833. A dispute resolution scheme is free for consumers to use, and every New Zealand financial adviser has to be a member of one.
Disclosure statementHow we’re paidFinancial Dispute Resolution ServiceFinancial Markets AuthorityHow to check every line on this page
Search the Financial Service Providers Register for the FSP number, open the record, and read the Financial Services tab. It shows the registered service, the start date, the Financial Advice Provider the adviser is engaged by, and the dispute resolution scheme. That is exactly where the figures above came from, on 8 September 2026, and it is the only source we treat as authoritative for an adviser’s status.
- Registration is not a licence, and the two are not interchangeable. The register records that a person or firm is registered to provide a financial service; the Financial Markets Authority separately licenses the Financial Advice Provider.
- Roles, qualifications and career history are not on the register. Where this page states one, such as Craig Smith’s role and his start in financial services in 1984, it comes from what QuoteHub already publishes on its about page, not from the register.
- If any detail here has gone out of date, the register is right and this page is wrong. Tell us and we will correct it.
Where to go next
If you want to know how the comparison itself works before you speak to either adviser, the methodology page sets out the panel and the criteria, and the editorial policy sets out who reviews the guides and how corrections are handled. If you want to know how the advice is paid for, that is on its own page too.
