About your pet
So an adviser can compare the right policies
What does a pet insurance quote comparison cover?
A licensed New Zealand adviser reviews your pet's species, breed, age and any known health conditions, then compares cover across the insurers on the QuoteHub panel: what each pays out, the excess and co-payment structure, the annual benefit limit, and any waiting periods or sub-limits that apply to your pet specifically. See the vet bill calculator for how excess and co-payments work out on an actual bill, and the pet insurance hub for the full insurer-by-insurer comparison.
Why does age and breed matter?
NZ pet insurers price and structure cover differently by age: several insurers add an age-related loading once a pet passes a set age threshold, and most decline new enrolments above a maximum entry age. Breed matters too, since some insurers apply lower age cutoffs or different terms for select breeds. An adviser needs these details to compare like-for-like rather than a generic headline price.
Existing health conditions
Every NZ pet insurer excludes pre-existing conditions from new cover. Telling the adviser about a known condition up front does not disqualify your pet from cover for everything else; it lets the adviser tell you honestly which insurers would and would not cover it, rather than finding out only when a claim is declined.
What does it cost?
The comparison and the call are free, with no obligation to take out a policy. Financial advice is provided by Craig Smith Business Services Limited, trading as Smiths Insurance & KiwiSaver, a licensed Financial Advice Provider (FSP712931). QuoteHub is not an insurer and does not sell pet insurance policies on this page; its licensed advisers may receive commission from an insurer if you take out cover through them.
